Question of the Week: What is your favorite Ginny moment?

Ginny's got so many awesome moments that it's hard to choose. But the first one that came to mind is from Half-Blood Prince. It's during a quidditch game (I love me some quidditch) and the temporary commentator, Zacharias Smith, is talking trash about Harry as Captain, Ron and Ginny, and the entire team in general. Gryffindor ends up winning the game and shutting Smith up, but that isn't quite enough for Ginny:

"Ginny, Where're you going?" yelled Harry, who had found himself trapped in the midst of a mass midair hug with the rest of the team, but Ginny sped right on past them until, with an almighty crash, she collided with the commentator's podium. As the crowd shrieked and laughed, the Gryffindor team landed beside the wreckage of wood under which Zacharias was feebly stirring; Harry heard Ginny saying blithely to an irate Professor McGonagall, "Forgot to break, Professor, sorry." - Pg. 298, Ch. 14

 You can totally tell that the twins had an influence on Ginny. I love it!

Harry Potter MotW (5): Favourite Trelawney Prophecy

I don't know if this technically counts as a prophecy, but it is one of my favorite moments of Professor Sybil Trelawney being a Seer.

'Two of spades: conflict,' she murmured, as she passed the place where Harry crouched, hidden. 'Seven of spades: an ill omen. Ten of spades: violence. Knave of spades: a dark young man, possibly troubled, one who dislikes the questioner - '
She stopped dead, right on the other side of Harry's statue.
'Well, that can't be right,' she said, annoyed, and Harry heard he reshuffling vigorously as she set off again, leaving nothing but a whiff of cooking sherry behind her. -Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Chapter 10, page 195-96)

I love this moment because it makes me think SHE'S REALLY NOT A FRAUD, SHE JUST DOESN'T KNOW IT! It would be so funny if she was actually a lot better at being a Seer than anybody, including herself, knew. If Professor Dumbledore had witnessed this scene he might have been forced to give her a pay raise.

Harry Potter MotW (4): Favorite Luna Moment

I feel like every scene with Luna contains a 'best Luna moment', but I'm going through The Half-Blood Prince right now and there are two Luna scenes which I absolutely adore. The first one is when Harry takes Luna to Slughorn's Christmas Party

     "I don't think you should be an Auror, Harry," said Luna unexpectedly. Everybody looked at her. "The Aurors are part of the Rotfang Conspiracy. I thought everyone knew that. They're working to bring down the Ministry of Magic from within using a combination of Dark Magic and gum disease."
     Harry inhaled half his mead up his nose as he started to laugh. Really, it had been worth bringing Luna just for this. (HBP, p. 320)

I love how Luna is just so Luna, and Harry is so used to her by now that he isn't embarrassed by her weirdness, he just goes along with it.

My other favorite moment is when Luna is commentating the Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff Quidditch match.

     "And that's Smith of Hufflepuff with the Quaffle," said a dreamy voice, echoing over the grounds. "He did the commentary last time, of course, and Ginny Weasley flew into him, I think probably on purpose, it looked like it. Smith was being quie rude about Gryffindor, I expect he regrets it now that he's playing them--oh, look, he's lost the Quaffle, Ginny took it from him, I do like her, she's very nice..." (HBP, p. 413-414)

     Ginny and Demelza scored a goal apiece, giving the red-and-gold-clad supporters something to cheer about. Then Cadwallader scored again, making things level, but Luna did not seem to have noticed; she appeared singularly uninterested in such mundane things as the score, and kept attempting to draw the crowd's attention to such things as interestingly shaped clouds and the possibility that Zacharias Smith, who had so far failed to maintain the Quaffle for longer than a  minute, was suffering from something called "Loser's Lurgy (HBP, p. 415)

Luna is just one of those characters that people cannot help but love.

Harry Potter Moment of the Week (1): Best Ron Moment

     This weeks topic is best Ron moment. I knew which moment I wanted to use, I knew which book it was in, I went through the possible pages three times last night and I still couldn't find it! Then I googled it this morning and someone had helpfully put up the page number I needed.

     My favorite Ron moment is from The Half-Blood Prince when they are in Defense Against the Dark Arts class and Snape asks Harry how to tell the difference between an Inferius and a ghost. Harry struggles to answer, Snape is sarcastic... and then there's Ron.

"Well, what Harry said is more useful if we're trying to tell them apart!" said Ron. "When we come face-to-face with one down a dark alley, we're going to be having a shufti to see if it's solid aren't we, we're not going to be asking, 'Excuse me, are you the imprint of a departed soul?'" - Ch 21, pg. 460

     That is one of my favorite Ron quotes, it always makes me laugh.
