 Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore

This book was so awesome and funny, I had the best time reading it. Great characters and plot and it's basically a stand alone (with one companion novel) which I don't tend to read a lot of.

The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles #2) by Mary E. Pearson

Best and most favorite book of the year! This book was so beyond fantastic and can't even describe how much. A must read series for everyone!

The Fixer (The Fixer #1) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
 Great book, political thriller, awesome guys and tough, sassy chicks!

The Orphan Queen (The Orphan Queen #1) by Jodi Meadows
I really enjoyed this book, it was fun to read, kinda creepy and had a really swoon worthy vigilante! What's not to love? 

Rook by Sharon Cameron
Just read this book and it was fun! It gives a nod to The Scarlet Pimpernel (which I read right after this) and it has daring deeds and smoochy guys!

A fun and light read that I fell in love with. I need more cheerful books in my life and I'm so glad I found this one :)


The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Great characters and a fantastic plot which will make you go "WHAT?!" at least twice.

 All Fall Down (Embassy Row #1) by Ally Carter
I fangirled so much after finishing this book and it resulted in a book hangover. It's written by Ally Carter. Of course it's awesome!

The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns #2) by Rae Carson
There are so many great things about this book. Elise's grown so much and the world building is still amazing and the romance... I shipped it from page one <3

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
You thought Kiss of Deception on good? Just wait until you read the sequel. It will blow your mind!

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton

After falling in love with a BBC show called Primeval and discovering that I actually like the Jurassic Park movie as well, I've come to realize that I'm a bit of a dinosaur nerd. I'm really hoping I like the book because it isn't my usual type, but I'm all for trying to find new books.

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

The fact that it sounds a lot like Revenge makes me want to read it. The fact that Sarah really liked it means that I'm likely to read it soon.

 
The Space Between by Brenna Yovanoff
This is the only Brenna Yovanoff book I haven't read, and since I actually have it on my bookshelf, that needs to change.

The Shifter by Chris T. Acadian
Wibbly wobbly timey wimey... stuff. And it has amazing reviews on Goodreads.

Dracula by Bram Stoker
It's seriously embarrassing that I haven't read this yet. I heard someone present a paper on it at an undergraduate literature conference and realized that while I know vampire books, I don't know anything about the book Dracula. I'm sure I'm going to be surprised a lot when reading it.

This is a book that I have been trying to read forever (and have even started it three times) but have yet to succeed. Maybe this summer.

The Falconer by Elizabeth May

Faeries, warriors, 1800's Scotland, yes please! This book sounds so awesome. I just recently got the audiobook so sometime this summer Christina and I plan to sit down with a craft project and listen to it.

Rook by Sharon Cameron

I just got this in from the library the other day and am really excited to read it! Ever since I've heard that it gives a nod to the Scarlet Pimpernel I have been highly anticipating it!

Spirit and Dust by Rosemary Clement-Moore

This is a companion novel to Texas Gothic which was one of my favorite reads this year. I just love the author's humor so I can't wait to see how this book is! 

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I've seen this around for years but have never really paid much attention to it until recently and now after reading the summary I'm wondering why I've waited this long!

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer
The final novel in the Lunar Chronicles series!!! I think I'm most excited about this one because I have been with this series from the beginning and can't wait to see how it all works out!

All In (The Naturals #3) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Jennifer Lynn Barnes is on my list of favorite authors right now. I love The Naturals and cannot wait to continue the series. Who doesn't love reading about brilliant teenagers solving brutal murders?

Walk The Earth A Stranger (The Gold Seer Trilogy #1) by Rae Carson
 I discovered the Fire and Thorns series at the beginning of the year when I was bieng reading in preparation for North Texas Teen Book Festival. I absolutely love her writing, world building, characters, etc. and I cannot wait to read this one. And it's a historical fantasy set during the gold rush! How cool is that?!
 
6 of Crows (The Dregs #1) by Leigh Bardugo
I loved the Grisha trilogy so I knew that I would read Leigh Bardugo's newest book but I got even more excited when I heard it was about thieves! Those types of characters hold a special place in my reader heart.

Soundless by Richelle Mead
I'm not quite sure what it's about. But it's another YA by Mead so I'll definitely read it. 

Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J. Maas
While this is not my favorite series I am definitely hooked. After how the last book ended I cannot wait to see the next step in Celaena's adventure!

The Unquiet by Mikaela Everette
I'm a sucker for books that deal with alt/parallel worlds but, as of yet, I have been disappointed. The Unquiet combines parallel worlds with assassins! It's going to be awesome and creepy!

Lion Heart (Scarlet #3) by A.C. Gaughen
I know this book is out already but I haven't read it yet so I'm adding it to the list. This is another series I've been with from the beginning and I love it! I've always enjoyed Robin Hood stories and I can't wait to see how Scarlet and Rob turn out in this one!

Immortal Heights (The Elemental Trilogy #3) by Sherry Thomas
After The Perilous Sea I am so ready for the conclusion. That cliffhanger last time was just mean. I am not amused... but I am impressed.

Black Widow: Forever Red by Margaret Stohl
There are no words on how beyond awesome this is going to be! To have a YA novel written about Black Widow? Purely AMAZING!!!

Top Ten Books We'd Like To See As a Movie/TV Show

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
This would be such a BEAUTIFUL movie! Well, now that I think about it, it would also be a very bloody movie, but still enjoyable! And it's a standalone which means that you don't have to watch 3 4 movies to get the entire story. I need this to be a movie!

Blood Red Road by Moira Young
Ridley Scott is doing this movie.... sometime. I don't know when but I do know that it's going to be AMAZING once it comes out! I love this book so much!
 
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Can you imagine how visually beautiful and creepy this movie would be? And the whole tone would be amazing. I've love to see the faerie world on screen. Also, I think it would be fine with just one movie since the book itself can standalone.

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West
It would be so cute and funny! We need a YA book movie that won't make us cry.

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
This is such a great trilogy and I think it would make some awesome movies (even though I kinda hate watching zombies)! Then I could see Eleanor and Daniels relationship on the big screen as well! ;)

TV SHOW
Gallagher Girls by Ally Carter
I can see so much potential in this being a TV show because each book cover's one semester and there could be so much fun in-between the main story. On the other hand, I think this would make a great TV show post-books and follow the girls once they've already gotten their jobs. Either way, I need some Gallagher Girls TV!!!!!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Movie format doesn't really work for this book, I'd love to see it stretched out into a series. The world is so vast, there are so many adventure that they could have. And after a while they could spin-off Bloodlines!

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
Each book lasts a year, there are so many mini adventures that our beloved characters could have that lead up to the main plot of the novel. Also, there could be more time spent on characters like Seamus, Dean, Neville, and all of the Weasleys. I'm not saying that a TV series would be good right now, it's too soon after the movies. Maybe in another 20 years it would work.

Mind Games by Kiersten White
There's a lot that can be done with this story and also this world. I'd love to see it on the screen!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
The books are so long and cover such a great period of time that I don't think this could be anything other than a TV show!

Sherlock's Sisters: The British Female Detective, 1864-1913 by Joseph A. Kestner
I put a lot of Edwardian history books on my TBR list recently (I won't bore you with them all) but this one I found particularly interesting. I'm really looking forward to reading it.

Ross Poldark (Poldark #1) by Winston Graham
I just started watching the BBC show called Poldark and love it. I'm hoping the book will be good as well.

The Immortal Heights (Elemental Trilogy #3) by Sherry Thomas
I just started reading the series this year and I can't wait to read the conclusion to the series.  

Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty
A modern YA Sherlock and a female Moriarty. I really don't know what to think of this, but I guess the only way to find out if it's good or not would be to read it... or I'll just wait until more reviews for it come out and then decide.

Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee 
Two girls disguised as boys travel on the Oregon Trail towards the California gold rush. It sounds fantastic! And I can't wait to learn more about the Oregon Trail!

When I Wake by Elizabeth Norris
It will be interesting to see what a modern day Prohibition looks like. Add in a girl stuck between the Feds and the Criminals and you've got the makings for a great story!

The Wrong Side of Right by Jenn Marie Thorne
There is definitely a recipe for drama when you throw a girl into the life of her new found father... who just so happens to be running for President. I'm very selective with the contemporary's I read but this one sounds really interesting.
 

Landry Park (Landry Park #1) by Bethany Hagen
One of the reason I added this to my TBR list was because they mentioned it had a bit of Downton Abbey feel (which I am currently obsessing over) and it's dystopian. can't get much better than that!

Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy #1) by Danielle L. Jensen
I've seen this around but have only recently added it to my TBR list. I'm not really sure what my expectations are but the trolls sounds interesting.

Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes #2) by Sara Raasch
I just finished Snow Like Ashes a couple weeks ago and loved it! I can't wait to read more of Meira's adventures (and I really want to see Theron again.lol).

Top 10 Books From Our Childhood (Or teen years) That We'd Love To Revisit

The truth is that I wasn't much of a reader when I was younger. When I finally learned to love reading I didn't branch out much, I had specific book series that I read that were VERY LONG that I read through. And once I got into my teen yours I discovered books that I'm still rereading now, so I don't consider them as belonging to my childhood.

Thoroughbred series by Joanna Campell
I went back and forth between SC and TB as my favorite series, but I think I like a lot more of the TB series. I've been collecting the books at library booksales since 2005 and I've got all but three books in the series out of over seventy. I don't want to reread the whole series, but I'd like to revisit the first four books and maybe some of Melanie or Cindy's books.

Saddle Club series by Bonnie Bryant
I tried to collect all of the books, but then I realized that I just didn't love all 101 (plus special editions). So I got rid of half my collection and just kept the ones I loved. My favorite ones involve Kate Devon and the Bar None Ranch, Phil, Tess, and such. My favorite books in the series are a two parter called Wagon Trail and Quarter Horse where the Saddle Club travel on the Oregon Trail as part of a reenactment trip.

Phantom Stallion series by Terri Farley
Not my favorite series, but I did really enjoy it. For a children's series there was plenty of sexual tension between Sam(antha) and Jake. I totally shipped it!

The American Girl series by Various Authors
I especially want to reread Josefina and Felicity's books, but I'd also like to revisit Kirsten and Samantha because I don't really remember their books anymore.

Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keen
I didn't read them much when I was younger, but I did listen to the first two books on cassette tape quite a few times. The only problem is that I was reading the first couple of pages out loud to Sarah and I couldn't help mocking it... really, I couldn't stop myself. I felt horrible.

I did read quite a bit when I was a child but like Christina I didn't branch out much and most I don't think I would revisit but there were some, mostly classic's, that I'd like to reread.

The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
Truthfully, I didn't read this until I was 18 in my Children's Lit class but I loved it and would love to try a reread.

Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
I read these as a kid but never thought much of rereading them until I became friends with a huge Laura Ingalls Wilder fan.  Now I'm thinking about trying some of them out again (just don't tell her I told you so.lol)

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkin
I first read these in 7th grade when the movies first started coming out and I hadn't read much fantasy before. I think it's definitely time to try them out again.

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
My mom read this book to us and I remember bawling my eyes out.... almost makes me wonder why I want to put myself through a reread but I do.lol

The Young Underground series by Robert Elmer
This is another series my mom read to my brother and I (Christina was still a bit young) and we really enjoyed it. I was finally able to get the last book in the series that I needed a few months ago so now I just need the time and the motivation for a reread.

A Cold Legacy (The Madman's Daughter #3) by Megan Shepherd

It's the conclusion of the trilogy so I really need to read it before too much time has past. I really loved the first book, but I had some issues with the second one and I don't know how I'll feel about this one.

Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes #1) by Sara Raasch

I've heard so many great things about this book, I really need to read it. I've been reading a lot of really great high fantasy lately so I'm hoping this will be another good one.

The Eighth Guardian (Annum Guard #1) by Meredith McCardle

I won the sequel to this book, but I've never read the first one. I haven't heard of it before now, but it involves time travel so I'm sure I'll love it.

The Sin Eater's Daughter (The Sin Eater's Daughter #1) by Melinda Salisbury

I read a really great review for this book and the cover is absolutely stunning! Truthfully, I don't really remember the summary, but it came in at the library and I'm excited to read it.

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy #1) by Marie Rutkoski

I liked it the first time I read it, but I didn't love it. I'm hoping to like it better the second time around and it'll prepare me for book 2!

Since the North Texas Teen Book Festival is over, and I don't have to catch up on those books anymore, there's so much I want to read now! These are just a few that I plan to read soon:

 Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas

I keep hearing about this book and I can't wait to read it and see for myself the awesomeness of it all. I actually have it on my shelf so hopefully it will get read soon.

I've been reading a lot of fantasy's lately and this one sounded really good and the cover is just gorgeous! I just got it from the library so I should have it read within 3 weeks.lol

Christina was lucky enough to pick up an ARC of this at NTTBF and said it was awesome so I really can't wait to read it! This will probably be my next book. I love having a sharing sister! :)
