HP MotW (8): Who Would My Hogwarts Boyfriend Be?

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a weekly meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows

If I went to Hogwarts, who would my boyfriend/girlfriend be?

You would not believe that amount of thought that I put into this question. I don't like the idea of fictionally dating a fictional character that would be a part of a fictional couple, so that narrowed it down a lot. And just because I love a character doesn't mean we would be good together. For example, I considered George Weasley (who doesn't love a guy with a sense of humor?) but then I realized that would be a disaster because I am not a practical joker, nor do I like practical jokes in real life. And as much as I love quidditch, I don't love it as much as Oliver Wood, so there is a relationship doomed to fail. There's also the fact that I'm a Slytherin, so the houses that I would interact with socially and number of people who would be prejudice against me limit my choices considerably.

Like I said, I put way too much thought into this... It's sort of pathetic really.

So, who did I finally decide would by my Hogwarts boyfriend? ... drum roll, please... Terry Boot!

He is a Hogwarts student, I promise. He's a Ravenclaw, was a part of the DA, and is generally a background character that doesn't matter. That's why I picked him. I couldn't make all the details match up with the other characters, so I picked a character I knew very little about. Out of all the houses, Ravenclaws are on the best terms with Slytherins, and I'd get along great with a character who's a booknerd.

So, that's my answer. I know it's kind of boring, but I couldn't come up with anything else. I really do take these things too siriusly ;)

  1. Hmm, that's actually smart. Since there's so little detail given about the character (I honestly can't even remember him from the books) he can pretty much have any characteristics you want him to :D I'm not even going to attempt to answer this question haha - it really does require a lot of thinking. Great post!

  2. I love how you reasoned out your pick- Terry Boot makes perfect sense to me, lol!

  3. I felt the same about messing up relationships already in place. I did end up picking George, but I reasoned that he only pulls pranks on certain people (namely Percy and Ron) and leaves everyone else out for the most part. I don't remember Harry and Hermione getting pranked a lot by them. I love how you put that Terry did go to Hogwarts LOL. I actually remembered his name because he was in the DA and I remember him asking Hermione why she wasn't in Ravenclaw. I always wanted to know that too so I was glad it was asked! I think it's a great pick :D

  4. I like that you picked a character that is sort of in the background in the series. It's smart, but also I really enjoyed your thought process for picking Terry Boot. You respect relationships even if they are fictional, way to go! :D

  5. I love your reasoning for picking Terry, it makes total sense the way you've laid it out. I ended up missing this week because I was away but I spent some serious time overthinking it too - like you, I felt like my options were kind of limited due to being Slytherin. I don't think I'd have been confident enough to be associated with/draw the attention of Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle would drive me crazy. I feel like Theodore Nott, as a bit of a loner would maybe be a good contender though.

    1. I wasn't brave enough to pick a fellow Slytherin but now that you mention it, I think Theodore Nott definitely has some hidden depth. Even when he was around Malfoy and his gang he didn't really seem to fit in. Maybe he's one of the many misunderstood Slytherins... and since he's not in the books much there's nothing to say otherwise! :D

  6. I LOVE how you struggled and reasoned this because I'm the SAME WAY. I'd always go for Harry but I don't want to break up him and Ginny. Same goes for Lupin so I went with Sirius because he has no significant other in the books, plus his younger self is dreamy ♥

I remember Terry Boot though and he's a wonderful pick^^ Way to go :D
